What once was a few threads here is about to turn into something bigger. During this transition, I need to ask for forebearance on another Mars Settlement thread. I imagine some folks are getting tired of them.

This thread is just to take care of some communications between the principal actors behind the nascent ACCESS thingie we're working on. Coincidentally, it also will demonstrate the openness of the collaboration we're putting together. But we'll shift ACCESS business to our website shortly, middle of next week most likely.

I would also like to ask a mod or two to drop in on this thread to give me a feeling for their reaction, and the admins, if any, to the Mars Settlement threads. If we persisted in maintaining large threads on the front page of M&L, would that be a Good Thing or a Bad Thing or where in between? I really don't have a clue. Of course anyone can answer that question, please do, but I feel I need to know where the admins might land on this question or if it even registers on their radar. Thanks a lot.

I've had a few contacts via PM from new folks, one whom we haven't seen on the threads. I consider such messages private and normally wouldn't think of copying them to a post on the message board. But I have to share these messages with everyone as an ACCESS guy. We said we're going to be above board and squeaky clean so that starts right at the start. Open communications. Transparency.

So I want everyone to know that if you send me a PM about ACCESS, it's gonna be public domain within a week. (BTW I'd prefer not to do much stuff using PM)

I like the one-week delay thing. It will let the people who are actually doing stuff work together apart from the crowd, if they feel the need, without worrying about a bunch of onlookers over their shoulders. A lot of stuff will become public domain as it happens, as on message boards, but a measure of privacy can be afforded by withholding some stuff for a week - if there are heated arguments for example.

If ACCESS is negotiating with a potential affiliate, that will be one of the main functions for this policy:

Everyone always has an option for a one week embargo on public disclosure on anything they submit to ACCESS for our consideration. The request will need to go to some sort of executive committee so the information contained in the submission can be properly processed.

The expectation is that everybody talks to everybody about everything and right away understanding that editing of previous material without documentation is heavily frowned upon. But in certain circumstances, communications can be kept unpublished for one 7-day Earth week. For the most part, this will be about Afiiliate recruiting.

Everything gets published within the week after submission, no need for FOIA here, it's all in the archives.

I didn't get a chance to warn everyone that any PM will become public, so I have a minor dilemma with two of the folks wh
