I've been out of town and off line for the last couple of weeks (NYC Dec 10th - 17th, Chicago Dec 17th - 27th) but I see that more questions have been asked.

Scanning them I see the others have been giving good answers (NEVERS, crazyeddie, H-man, etc) so instead of reading all the posts I thought this one post would help.

Now that you have a scope enjoy it. It doesn't matter what kind or that it may be a "toy scope" they can all be made to work.

Get with some one from a local astronomy club, most have a beginner group where the old hands will help out. Load the scope in your car and make a meeting, ask for help. I have even gone to someones house to help setting up and teaching how to use a new scope.

We like to help!

Places to find clubs:

Astronamy Mag http://www.astronomy.com/asy/community/groups/

Sky & Tel http://skyandtelescope.com/resources/organizations/

Astronomy Clubs of the World http://www.wro.org/links/Amateur_Clubs.htm

Night Sky Network http://nightsky.jpl.nasa.gov/

All the clubs are not listed on all the sights but it's a start
www.siriuslookers.org

One other thing.........There are no dark skies east of the Mississippi!!!

I took my laser pointer thinking I would show the seven grandkids some naked eye astronomy. Only have 4 clear nights and other then the Moon, Mars, Venus, I'm spoiled on our Arizona skies. Even Phoenix is better the the Chicago area.
www.siriuslookers.org
