This article in New Scientist.

http://environment.newscientist.com/article/dn14906-goldmine-bug-dna-may-be-key-to-alien-life.html?DCMP=ILC-hmts&nsref=space1_head_Goldmine%20bug%20DNA%20may%20be%20key%20to%20alien%20life

Not the first colony of bacteria discovered in very deep mines BUT this one has been found living ALONE (i.e the only living species in its habitat), which is exceptional as species were thought to always form ecosystems of several species. This would remove another prerequisite for microbial life survival and be promising for finding microbial life elsewhere in our system.
