http://www.esa.int/esaMI/Launchers_Europe_s_Spaceport/index.htmlThe ESA website says Kourou was chosen from 14 other possible sites, where were those sites?
Posted by pmn1

Kourou was chosen because it is on the equator and is flanked by a wide body of water on its eastern side (for launch failures). Other equivalent sites on the Earth would be Brasil, Surinam, Kenya, Indonesia, New Guinea, Indian Ocean islands and Pacific Ocean islands. Or... a man-built launch site carried out to sea llike Sea Launch.

“An error does not become a mistake until you refuse to correct it.” John F.
