Another meteor splits.

12:28 est st. time. appeared Just to the left of jupiter, where that bright star is on the same degree. traveling downward to about the point on the horizon where you see the last star. it split about the last 5 - 10 percent of its path into two or more seperate pieces and burned up. Vantage point from central florida just northwest of orlando. Can someone please verify!! Im thinkin it was space junk..

I'm going to merge this into the other meteor splitting thread.

There were no anticipated large object reentries on the schedule last night, but smaller objects don't get listed. Still, the number of meteors far exceeds the number of reentering objects (by orders of magnitude) so a meteor is far more likely. Depending on the exact path, it could have been a Taurid meteor, or simply one of the sporadic ones that come from any direction.

There are currently 4 active meteor showers (epsilon Geminids, Orionids, Northern and Souther Taurids).
