I watched that ad again, and I'd misremembered one bit. They actually didn't screw up and show Mission Control. Although it was clearly a small set, it did appear that they were trying to emulate the real firing control room.<br /><br />I don't think they were intentionally using Columbia, though. I suspect they just used the first footage they found, and in all likelihood, didn't even know which bird it was on the pad. So I don't think they're exploiting tragedy. They're just exploiting stock footage, basically. Most folks won't know which shuttle it is.
