Astrophotography Cameras....

I recently got my dads old telescope, which im very excited about, since I am definitely an amateur astronomer, but I need a little help.

I eventually want to get a nice astrophotography camera for my telescope, but I dont know what to get or even if theres a camera that would fit mine. All I know is, that I have a 4inch Meade Telescope, similar to the "Newtonian" on the Meades website. It was bought sometime ago, probably about 10+/- for around 500 bucks, but it is still in good shape, electronic, but no autostar.

I would like some guidance, please. I have been looking at some nice Orion cameras, like http://www.telescope.com/control/pr...tegory=astro-imaging_camera/~product_id=52083 but dont know if it would even work or fit on my telescope, or if theres certain parts i need to get, etc.

I would someone to be straight forward with me, no run around, and I dont want a cheap, all you can take pictures of is the moon, type camera. The link I provided gives an idea of what I want. Thanks

Actually, it's not that far off from the purpose of AtA. I will move it to Astrophotraphy forum, but leave a copy here for a few days.

I am assuming that your telescope has a german equitorial mount. If it is an alt az Dobsonian mount you will not be able to use the Orion imager. If you do have a mount with a clock drive like a GEM, then you should be able to take long exposure images with that camera. It has a standard 1 1/4" nosepiece that will fit into your focuser.
You absolutely have to have a mount that has a clock drive to track objects.
