In reply to:

MINI MAG LITE - Device designed to support the
AA battery industry.

If you think a Mini Mag is bad, you should try a SureFire. They use 3 volt lithium batteries like the kind used in camera flashbulbs.

Expensive as hell.

Bright as hell too. The SureFire is the flashlight that the Sun would use on a recon into a black hole.

The only problem is that they work great until precisely five seconds before you need it. And there is no warning that the batteries are about to give out either.

So, again we are defeated. SPEED OF SOUND - The rate at which the auctioneer in Clearance Delivery assigns your clearance that's different from what you filed for as you desperately try to write it down on the back of a yellow Post-It before you read it back to him. It's ok if you don't get it all, though, because ATC will reroute you from that as soon as you're airborne.

GPS CARD - the slightly out of date computer memory that doesn't contain the obscure new waypoint you were assigned when they rerouted you.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS - Landing in Austin on Game Day and parking your 172 on the ramp to buy 13 gallons of Av gas next to a chartered 727 full of football fans that just ordered 6000 pounds of jet fuel.

AGRICULTURAL SUBSIDY - The ramp fee you pay at most big city FBO's in return for the "free" popcorn.
