Gaaah! Geez, thanks for the spoiler in the thread title, I hadn't seen this episode yet. I hadda bail out of the SF forum, but a little too late, I knew something bad was gonna happen.<br /><br />Now that I've seen it, I have to think she bought the farm on that one. I didn't see a deus ex machina hiding in the clouds....

Actually its kind of funny for me, I've hated the new Starbuck, and really haven't liked the new BSG all that much compared to the old, what do you all think? But that's a whole other discussion. <br /><br />Anyway, ironically, I kinda felt bad when she did die the way with the flashback of her hard life, but I think the death was pointless, or at least she could have died saving somebody, etc.<br /><br /> Personally, I think in real life it happened for similar reasons that Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby) left the show, militant females aren't often liked. The character was always better than all the guys put togther, and in real life the actress said "Starbuck's a girl now , get over it", which didn't help. I think maybe the actress got a lot of hate mail, and possibly that took its toll and for that and other reasons decided to do something else. <br /><br />I think she may come back in flashbacks or some other way as one person suggested, it was left open for the whole 'destiny' thing. She'll mysteriously pop up to save the crew or point the way to earth, etc. and then disappear again.<br /><br />Just my 2 cents...

Starbuck was a guy. The transgender surgery was clearly a failure. I hate it when they do things like that to heroes.

Two things make me think that Starbuck will be back. 1) They made a point of showing her fingering the eject switch just before the Viper exploded, and 2) they made a point of saying that the Cylon ship she saw was a Heavy Raider, which we know is capable of carrying passengers. I think we will see Starbuck as a prisoner of the Cylons in the near future and learn just what her 'special destiny" is all about.

The only Science Fiction series able to kill off a good looking blonde that was a main character was Star Trek. And, they did so early in the series agains the outcries of the fans. Of course, they brought her back several times.. Starbuck ain't dead. Of course, "good looking" is a relative term but if she took a shower every once-in-awhile and brushed her hair, she'd be a keeper. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <font size="1">I put on my robe and wizard hat...</font> </div>

I didn't expect it to happen that soon maybe later into next season.....Lildreamer...what about that or what happened in the ep where she 'died' and the end of the season finale leads one to believe she's a cylon? I don't get why the others hearing the music means that they are too? I think it's just misdirection myself...
