Hello all,

Just letting you know if you live near the Mountain Home, Idaho area, Bruneau Dunes State Park has a public observatory open weekly Friday and Saturday nights starting at 5:00 PM Mountain Time. Admission is $4 per Vehicle into the park and $3 per person if the sky is clear for viewing.

Typical Evening Schedule:

5:00 - 8:30 Solar Observing, Park Views with the Big Eyes Binoculars

8:30 - 10:00 Space Update: Catch up on your space history and and get up to date on current NASA Projects.

10:00 - ??? Night Observing using the 25 inch Scope. Their are usually two to five other scopes set up ranging from 8 to 11 inches. Targets are typical planets and the moon in smaller scopes up to a tour of the Messier Catalog through the 25 inch scope.


Always looking for Volunteers. Little to no experience required.

It is nice that there is a public observatory there. The United States could use more public observatories and planetariums. Children have a natural interest in astronomy and space.
