i was readin somewhere that the earth has more water then it really needs ...what do they mean by that? if anyone has any info....and that the deadliest natural toxin the anaerobic bacterium of spoiled food which cases botulism is so deadly that 1 oz (30 g) could theorotically kill 33 millioon tons of living matter and 1 lb (0.5 kg) could kill the entire human population.....if that is so then where do they keep this stuff...and do you think that it could happen one day.

If all the ocean depths below, lets say, 4 miles deep were filled in with rock and the water 'deleted' not sure there would be a huge change in anything else in the biosphere, long term, anyhow. ThugFella - Perhaps they were referring to the Noachian flood?<br /><br />Actually, it is very helpful to have this much water - it stabilizes the CO2 - O2 balance, and mitigates CO2 emissions somewhat - what with a stirring time over 1,000 years.<br /><br />The oceans are a CO2 sink.<br /><br />Oceans also moderate the climate.<br /><br />And the huge amount does help protect us from photolysis depletion, what with the escape of hydrogen and the incorporation of oxygen into our atmosphere.
