I'm sure it is far more complex than I understand, but maybe you could look at it as being copies of copies of copies. Copies are never quite as good as the original. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <div> </div><br /><div><span style="color:#0000ff" class="Apple-style-span">"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson</span></div> </div>

It's not copies of copies so much as accumulated damage & mutation from environmental factors. Each time the cells divide those get passed down and more get added until you die. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

Sort of like making copies from a copy. All the defects from the first copy get passed to the new copy which in turn has new defects.<br /><br />I understand your point.<br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <div> </div><br /><div><span style="color:#0000ff" class="Apple-style-span">"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson</span></div> </div>

No offence, but this would be obvious to a 5 year old kid. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p> </p><p><span style="color:#ff9900" class="Apple-style-span">-pyoko</span> <span style="color:#333333" class="Apple-style-span">the</span> <span style="color:#339966" class="Apple-style-span">duck </span></p><p><span style="color:#339966" class="Apple-style-span"><span style="color:#808080;font-style:italic" class="Apple-style-span">It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.</span></span></p> </div>

You know, I feared you guys would take me too seriously. But thanks for pointing out the reason (which I already knew if anybody is curious) <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p align="center"><font color="#c0c0c0"><br /></font></p><p align="center"><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">----</font></em></font><font color="#666699">SaiphMOD@gmail.com </font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">-------------------</font></em></font></p><p><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">"This is my Timey Wimey Detector.  Goes "bing" when there's stuff.  It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually.  I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- </font></em></font><font size="1" color="#999999">The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"</font></p> </div>

Not too sure, but I think the other comments (and mine) were not about your post <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p> </p><p><span style="color:#ff9900" class="Apple-style-span">-pyoko</span> <span style="color:#333333" class="Apple-style-span">the</span> <span style="color:#339966" class="Apple-style-span">duck </span></p><p><span style="color:#339966" class="Apple-style-span"><span style="color:#808080;font-style:italic" class="Apple-style-span">It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.</span></span></p> </div>

Docm and derek's posts about cell copies were in response to my post I do believe. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p align="center"><font color="#c0c0c0"><br /></font></p><p align="center"><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">----</font></em></font><font color="#666699">SaiphMOD@gmail.com </font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">-------------------</font></em></font></p><p><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">"This is my Timey Wimey Detector.

Even without the wink at the end of your statement, I knew you were joking. <br /><br />My response was more to show my lack of knowledge hoping someone might expand a bit on the actual details. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <div> </div><br /><div><span style="color:#0000ff" class="Apple-style-span">"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson</span></div> </div>

<font color="cyan">But the planet stays the same! </font><br /><br />Here are the numbers:<br />The earth receives 1350W/m2. <br /><br />Earth's surface area=5.12x1014m2<br /><br />For a 12 hour(a day) period the earth receives 3x1022Joules energy.<br /><br />Assuming only 50% absorption, mass equivalent of this energy is 165880 Kg <br /><br />Over 4 billion years it's an accumulation of 2.42x1017 Kg. <br /><br />This number seems reasonable considering all the animals and plants that lived and died on this planet in 4 bill years. But this mass is also very small and undetectable compared to the actual mass of earth 6x1024Kg. <br /><br />It will take almost 1billion billion years to double the mass of the earth. We all gonna be fried by that time. I don't think any serious works have been done.<br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <font size="2" color="#ff0000"><strong>Earth is Boring</strong></font> </div>

I think most of that energy is re-radiated as the earth is in thermal equilibrium with the sun. If we retained all the energy we absorb from the sun, I would think we would be cooked rather quickly. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <div> </div><br /><div><span style="color:#0000ff" class="Apple-style-span">"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson</span></div> </div>
