Will we one day find the cures to all diseases (including cancer)??

Is it likely that the cure to cancer would require genetically engineering a chemical that is the exact opposite of that cancer?

This question relates to my beliefs of how humans may one day achieve immortality from all diseases. Not immortality as in everlasting life, but immortality from sickness, disease, and plagues.

Everything in the universe is made up of smaller and smaller particles. It begins with superstrings to quarks to protons, neutrons, and electrons to atoms to molecules to elements and so on. From one single type of fundamental particle, we get the entire universe, and all the elements that create it.

So, would a cure to cancer be hidden within its own framework? Could the future of genetics and medicine lead to the creation of a chemical that would break down the cancer's building blocks as though it never existed in the first place?

Techies: We do it in the dark.

"Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. One day we'll be able to genetically engineer ourselves so we'll be immune to most diseases. Only a new and truly nasty one would pose a risk and, even then, technology should enable us to easily overcome it. Something as simple as a nano-shot should clear up just about anything.

Except, of course.. .Space Herpes.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Curiously, one important possible treatment for disease(s) is also potentially a killer:

NY Times Article

PubMed Abstract

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Various mental abberations will proably remain resistant to treatment.

Ah yes, you can't cure human stupidity

Even if mental disorders were immune to any type of treatment, would it be possible to reprogram certain parts of the brain as though the mental disorder never happened? Would it be possible to operate, in some way, on the mind of a psychopathic patient and "reprogram" it so that they no longer think this way?

Techies: We do it in the dark.

"Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour.
