Hi MeteorWayne,

Thank you very much for your posts. I have been unable to see anything of this launch,
a real bloody shame really, considering I was part of the campaign to get the
mission reinstated.

I have not looked anywhere else as I knew the worthwhile & important updates
would be here

It is looking absolutely BRILLIANT right now. Lets hope the second stage relights .

Mind you the hardest part of the launch is now past.

This mission will be one for the history books & so far it is looking extremely good.

The Delta 2 has not failed us again, a real venerable & reliable launcher.

Not only Mars Phoenix Lander last month, now DAWN, two very important exploratory
missions have been served extremely well by the Delta 2 this year.

Great job NASA / JPL / ULA.

I will check back later, needless to say that really.

Once again MeteorWayne, thank you so very much.

Hi shuttle_guy, I wonder what sanctions the knucklehead skipper of that boat
that came within the Exclusion Zone will be??

Its idiots like that, that could really have scuppered this for today. Fortunately it lead to
only a minor delay.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. YAHOO.

Bloody great stuff. DAWN to Mars, 4 Vesta & 1 Ceres, I'm coming whether you are
ready or not.

Well done ULA.

This is a huge relief.

Mars encounter in March 2009. That will be a good test of the instruments, as well
as some new Mars science.

Now we know that DAWN is successfully on her way, lets hope that many observations
are made of 4 Vesta & 1 Ceres, with HST, Keck AO, etc, so we can optimize DAWN observations
when she arrives.

Trajectory for DAWN.

I wonder now that the exact trajectory is known, if there will be any
encounters of opportunity possible prior to 4 Vesta?

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. I only had a brief period of time that I could watch the launch and that idiot ship had to steam into the range and bump the launch time, so I missed it. I got back just in time to hear that DAWN had seperated from its upper stage, so it looks like I missed all of the fun.

Good job ULA! JimfromNSF, did you work on this launch?

Well, see you guys in 2011.

So, again we are defeated. Hi PistolPete, I could not watch the launch either, but hopefully will see some repeats later.

Hi shuttle_guy. I too am curious about that ship sailing into the Exclusion Zone. Sounds
like someone was a real plonker & did not do their job properly.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. "JimfromNSF, did you work on this launch?"

Nope, not this one. My cubicle neighbor did.
Actually watched from home. My next one is an USAF payload flying on a NASA Delta II, STSS 06. They thought that my previous USAF experience might be of some help. MSL is another of missions. These two are taking up a lot of my time but I am doing some stuff for Constellation. I am also doing something else (that I can't say at the moment) that some people on this forum would find very surprising
