Despite his father q (Q's son), could manage it. I can see Admiral Janeway writing a letter of recommendation (like Sisko did for Nog) on the condition that the Continuum strip q of his powers while at the Academy (including his entrance exams) and agree not to interfere with q's education -- or let Q interfere. This could be a new book series, possibly by Peter David. Part of the series would show q learning to live like we do and respect all life. Once he graduates, the series might continue to show his career and rise through the ranks.

Will Pittenger
Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums:
{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}

Hmmm, interesting. However the coutinum seems to treat humanity as little more that interesting pets, so I dont know if by their logic they would allow one of their own to abandon their, for lack of a better word, Q'ness, and be integrated into human society. Not that Star Fleet is an all Human group mind you but you get the jist of where I am going with that. It would be interesting though, I would like to see an exchange student type of thing, young Q in starfleet, and a human becoming Q and learning to live that way.

Even without his powers he still has all the knowledge that he had before which would make anything that he had to take would be at best rudimentary for him. And because of that i'm sure there are those in starfleet that would try to make him give them some of that "special" knowledge. Sorry this kinda story line wouldn't really work...unless they wiped his mind along with his powers. In which case it would basically be about just another human. Not that interesting at all.

I have an answer for everything...you may not like the answer or it may not satisfy your curiosity..but it will still be an answer.
"Imagination is more important then Knowledge" ~Albert Einstien~
Guns dont kill people. Right, q will be a bore without his powers.
I want to see Q (the father) disguise himself as a handsome man and date Janeway!

willpittenger - Do you want to see q go to the Star Fleet Academy?

I suppose I'm a relative ST-NOOB (Redshirt) since I didn't know there was a "q." (It's possible it came up in a Voyager episode and I have since forgotten it.)

But, I'm not one to deny anyone my two coppers on the subject even if I don't know anything about it....

The last thing I'd want to see is a "q" Wesley Crusher.

The whole "Humanity has something to teach the Q about Humanity" backstory just never sat very well with me at all. I don't even like the Q in the storyline at all. It provides a constant "Deus Ex Machina" to any episode they were ever in. It doesn't do much for the story, in general, either. In reality, I don't see the value of a "Q" protagonist at all. At least not in their omnipotence. I will admit, some of the stories were somewhat pleasant diversions. But, as a main element in ST lore/plots/backstory I find them just too distracting.

Have his powers taken by the Continuum and then succumb to a human illness. He can then choose death to experience in order to better understand mortal species. Suitably ironic plotline for a young, inquisitive and mortal Q.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...
