They don't understand that a quality popcorn movie still is a quality movie, despite a lack of depth or credibility. So I'm definitely seeing this one. :)

***

Looks to be better than "The Hulk". I've been hearing that early screeners like it a lot because it tends to be more like the TV series than the 1st film. That and though he may be a pain in the arse Edward Norton is a very good actor (plays Bruce Banner) and is also one helluva screen writer, and he took over that role early on.

Just saw it a couple of hours ago. A pretty impressive movie. Nice to see touches that plague real exoskeletons, such as the power problem. Annoyingly I was looking at wikipedia's entry on the F-22 yesterday and so spent too much of the time, during one action sequence, thinking a bunch of technical stuff, but I guess that's the curse of being a geek.

Really not sold on what I've seen of the new Hulk movie. Almost looks like they're giving away the ending during the trailers.

Oh and I'm back on these forums yahoo. Hang on where's my planet rating gone? Wanted to upgrade to star, darn it!

It was great, there's two flaws.. One in the plot and one in the way the movie was timed.. Spoiler below:

You can't survive the accelerations Stark goes thru.. It's too bad, they could've found a work around for most of them (that I remember). Or maybe they couldn't for a few of the hits he takes, and decided that if they were going to leave one, they might as well make all of them spectacular beyond reality.

My second semi-disapointment is with the movie being an obvious prequel.. Like the last Superman movie. Not one third through Iron Man, I could tell no plot could get done other than a setup for a second movie, with only two hours of runtime. I think it would've been worth it to push 30min more.. Or maybe not.. It was great nonetheless.

Heh. Suspension of disbelief is required. If I go see movie based on a comic, I leave my brain on the desk before I even leave the house.

"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson

Okay, something I've wondered but never bothered to check on.

The box office figures...is that the cash the studio rakes in, or just ticket sales?

--------------------SaiphMOD@gmail.com -------------------

"This is my Timey Wimey Detector. Goes "bing" when there's stuff. It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually. I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Gross ticket sales...but the studio gets the vast majority of it with their split being 70% + of the gross ticket sales the first week and decrementing ~10%/week from then on. Besides their percentage of the split theaters get the concessions.

Ahh, I was wondering how that worked out. And explains concession prices a bit more.

Yup...no concessions, no theater. Not to mention that to be competative these days they have to upgrade to those $$$$ digital projectors, often with 2-3 screens of 3D. That's what one local multiplex had to do with an Emagine moved in less than 1/4 mile down the road from them.
