Elektron on NASA-TV

NASA-TV is currently showing some footage taken of the Elektron system over the weekend. It's amazing to see how many tubes are running all over the service module to get and keep the system up and running. How they avoid running (floating?) into and disconnecting them is a mystery to me.

Does anyone have details of how this elektron actually works? I know that tuning it to work seems to be a bit of an art but I would be interested to see a schematic or something. At the moment I'm having visions of some filter to clean the waste water followed by a couple of electrodes inside a dyson vacuum cleaner to separate the water from the gasses all held together by bits of string and duct tape, very Heath Robinson.
