A new chemical analysis of stars in Andromeda has revealed the galaxy next door had a more chaotic upbringing than the Milky Way, defined by a galactic clash and merger.

I think someone needs to look at the pictures before writing the caption below. The following caption "An illustration of the Kuiper belt beyond which a hypothetical ninth planet has been suggested to dwell. (Image credit: NASA/SOFIA/Lynette Cook)" is written below an illustration that is clearly from the point of view slightly outside of Jupiter's orbit looking back toward the sun. Therefore, the belt being illustrated is clearly the asteroid belt, not the Kuiper belt.
