A lot more "organic" looking than I would have imagined it. I suppose that supports the "alien technology" type angle.

Though, it looks like it's covered in crystallized green goo.

IIRC the Guardians modeled the lanterns on the lamps carried at night by police officers on their homeworld (not Oa) - lanterns made of crystals.
