Certainly no more stupid than I sound.

I meant left vs righthanded orientation. Like when you look at a screw in the mirror it looks different from looking at the actual screw, whereas a cylinder looks the same.

Well life on earth is.
Whether the universe is?
That's a qustion we don't have enough data to answer yet.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. IIRC, the weak nuclear force is, and that is a force operative through out the universe in nuclei.

So, yes, your idea is correct to this extent at least.

Now if the universe is rotating one way or another . . . .

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

In regards to the expanding rather than condensing Universe, how could there be "rotation" to begin with?

Unless the singularity that parented the BB itself was spinning.
"2012.. Is it possible to know if the universe is rotating? What would be the frame of reference?

Everything else seems to spin around.

Yes, everything else does. But the current 3D model of the Universe in terms of the spatial positions of all the catalogued galaxies does not imply any spin that resembles any galaxy or solar system.

Galaxies and solar systems indeed have an obviously visible "spin". One would assume that's purely because there is a sufficiently massive object at the Center that explains and allows for such spin.

Looking at the observable Universe, there is no evidence to support a similar phenomenon. Galaxies and solar systems do not appear to be "expanding". They appear to be stable systems where the effects of a central gravity "point" is at equilibrium.

Using that as a frame of reference, in order to have a "rotating" Universe, there would have to be a central point that was more massive on order of magnitude than the observable mass of the Universe.

And were that the case, it should stick out like a neon sign, I think.

A hundred billion years hence, maybe we'll see "supergalaxies" rotating around a common center of gravity.
"2012.. Yes, but there is a force greater than gravity at work in our Universe; the force that causes its expansion. We have no clue what that force is and how it works. It may cause the Universe to spin for all we know.

***
