I remember a vague scene from a movie from when I was very little, and despite my best attempts to search for it, I have been unable to figure out what movie it is.

It looked kind of modern, and I was born in 1985, so I have to assume it falls between 1970 and 2000. It is about Aliens, but not of the very famous Alien series. What I remember is a scene I think from the beginning. They are on what I think is a ship in space. And they have a big alien, possibly a queen, behind a giant vault/door. They have captured it and are holding it there for some reason. There are lots of people on the ship, some are the crew, and they are uniformed, I think. The others I always thought of as being monks, because they were bald, but I don't think that's what they were. They seemed to be brain-dead, like they had lobotomies.

Anyways, the scene I remember is the crew going about their business, and noticing some of the bald people getting close to the door but not thinking anything of it. But then the bald people start to try to open the door, and the crew is too far away to do anything about it and the alien gets out. I think the idea was that the alien used it's mind to control them and do what it wanted, kind of like how insect queen's are able to control drones.

Anyways, if anyone has any idea what movie this is I'm dying to know. It's driving me nuts.

Thanks for your help!
/mixmanner

I know it's pretty vague, but I can't remember much else. I'm just kind of hoping somebody remembers that scene in particular and knows what movie I'm talking about. I assume that the alien ripped people apart and such, but since I don't remember exactly, it's entirely possible that they just had tea.

did it go like this?

"monks" release the creature - sort of insect-reptilian - there are lots of flashing strobe lights on this scene (why?), the crew gets all messed up by the creatures telepathic abilites, creature finds a way to escape, landing on earth. surviving attractive blonde protagonist follows it, joins up with earthling detective to hunt down the critter, which is 'wearing' human bodies and passing from host to host in a rather gory manner. somehow they end up back on the ship for the final scene, and decide to crash it down into one of earth's oceans to destroy the monster.

... searching IMDB ...... 99% sure it's Something is Out There. apparently it was not a movie, but a TV mini-series. I also thought it was a movie, guess it had very few episodes.

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell
