How fine tuned is our Sun?

For life, for example.<br /><br />Mass is the most studied, compared with other stars and using the standard model of stellar evolution.<br /><br />The standard model assumes all stars of similar mass to our sun will end up the same and have other similar properties.<br /><br />However, how common is the spectral analysis of our sun compared with similar mass stars?<br /><br />Do other stars of similar mass have similar magnetic field strengths and properties?<br /><br />What about comparitive rotation speed overall, and more detailed: what about internal differential rotation which effects magnetic fields?<br /><br />Is our sun's corona average or unique - and why?<br /><br />Compared with the range of stellar masses, how fine tuned is our sun's mass for long, stable, life?<br /><br />Is there a better mass for earth's future? <br /><br />Larger mass stars that would normally go supernova sometimes go main sequence due to shedding mass, including those that produce 'planetary' nubulae.<br /><br />Will our sun shed significant mass in some similar way - how fine tuned would our sun have to be for life to continue through red giant phase?<br /><br />I have other questions on this theme, but I'll start with those.<br /><br />Please consider Magnetars as one example of variant magnetic field strengths among stars with similar masses.

blass - That has indeed been the assumption.<br /><br />However, the specific magnetic properties, such as the sunspot period and the causal complex magnetic dynamos which are in motion within the sun are not likely the same as other stars.<br /><br />As I stated above - note Magnetars - they prove that stars of similar mass can have very variant magnetic fields.<br /><br />The variation in 'planetary nebulae' - note the many awesome and varied Hubble photos of these - show that parent stars while of similar mass have some very different properties resulting in these very different effects - and beautiful effects, btw.<br /><br />Can you link to any evidence for your belief?

Have you cataloged the 200 billion stars in the Milky Way alone? Or is your statement an assumption?<br /><br />

"fine tuning" suggests someone or something had a hand in it. This has not been proven. <br /><br />For now, we can say that life arose from the conditions that are/were available.<br /><br />
