Question How likely is a Carrington Event?

Rerference the book "48 hours", by William R. Forstchen , how plausible is it that the Earth, at some time in the near future, will be hit by a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from the Sun, a "Carrington Event" that has the power to shut down and possibly destroy the world's electrical infrastructure? Is there a timeline on when the next solar flares would be strong enough to do so? If so, when? How best to prepare for such an event, for our own homes as well as our nations infrastructure?

It's long overdue according to soil samples that say it happens every 100 or so years.
Don't get to attached to your cell or car or grocery store or hydro.
In the year or two it takes to make a semi recovery anarchy, starvation and plague.
We can only hope nuclear plants get regular fuel deliveries or things get far worse.

Prepare
Don't live in a city.
Have the means to hunt/fish and protect.
Have seeds to grow food.
Stockpile dry goods rice/pasta/flavor packets/freeze dried meat/dried beans peas etc/canned food.
Have means to stay warm, woodstove and wood.
Plant fruit and nut trees now.
Have plans for a simple still.
