Now note I am not trying to support the F = ma is false globally hypothesis, but more or less trying to confirm something. Would it not be the case that without course corrections, they would have been well off the desired location? If so, how often do they have to make course corrections? If not, how did they manage to work out the path of the system with such accuracy?

Just to confuse things more one team of scientists has just taken another look at the dark matter problem and shown that general relativity can acount for it, and therefore dark matter is no longer needed.<br /><br />Seems we knew more than we thought all along.

Your right! We do know pretty much everthing, I think, except we are having trouble understanding it. I expect major breakthroughs in gravity in the very near future and this an exciting prospect to me.

Well, I am nat saying that f=ma is false, I am saying that it is incomplete/fragmented, same with relativity, because Newton and Einstein were both right and both wrong, and major breakthroughs in quantum theory should confirm this.

That is good news! Those crafts are very useful indeed; even today. I would imagine that the person who solves gravity would have strengths in atmospherics/weather, quantum physics, and astrophysics. These people should employ the mathematicians, because the math is to time consuming. With that said, I guess a whole team of individuals will collaborate, deliberate, debate, and solve the perplexing issues brought about by understanding gravity. With respect to Newton, it should be called gravity, and there is nothing wrong with that, or maybe they will rename it again, who knows.

Wow, I can't do anything more to you than you already did to yourself. /* ad hominem deleted */

Aparently no one ever applyed GR fully to the problem, they just used Newtoinian approximations. Apply GR and theory matches observation. Probably only just got enough computational power to be able to look at it in this way. Link to paper and to article.

My favorite is to explain in a friendly, non-threatening way exactly why I think that poster is wrong. It's an opportunity to educate, and to engage the curiosity of someone who probably hasn't really investigated science seriously and doesn't realize what they're missing.<br /><br />When that fails, I generally ignore them, replying to those with something useful to contribute, because the perceived relevance of a post tends to be based on how many people reply to it. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p><font color="#666699"><em>"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff."</em>  -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"</font></p> </div>

A logical flag that I use for my internal programming is when I find myself getting perturbed at someone riding roughshod over my discipline (Physics), I quit the thread for a while.<br /><br />I also go back to this paper for perspective and relief from time to time:<br /><br />http://www.phule.net/mirrors/unskilled-and-unaware.html<br /><br />Wayne<br /><br /><br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p>"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything."  Admiral Jackie Fisher</p> </div>

I just started skimming that article and immediately wanted to kidnap and force at the threat of hideous painful torture certain individuals to read it!<br /><br />But of course, those individuals would not be competent to evaluate the article in regards to their own actions.<br /><br /><br />Arrrgggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br /><br /><br /><img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" /><br /><br /><br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><font color="#ff0000"><strong>TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#339966"><strong>So many people, so few recipes !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Let's clean up this stinkhole !!</strong></font> </p> </div>
