No. You are deluded.

You know why?

Cause he(a) never walked on water it is impossible (b) didn't raise the dead, ditto(c) died and rotted in a hole in the ground.

And you point blank are wrong about the gospels being untouched.

They have been re-written on many occasions, and ANY fool knows this is true.

For a start, they never out-lawed suicide until the 3 century, and that, only to stop the thousands of poor deluded fools taking the Eurchrist and topping themselves, to escape to heaven.

It s all just silly sheepherders tales. And not even good ones, at that.
You are being played for a fool, which I urge you to think about next time mother church puts out the alms bucket to you.

to them, all you are is a sheep. It even SAYS as much. And sheep get shorn, and then, when they no longer produce wool, gutted for dogtucker.

*** DANGER *** DANGER *** Will Robinson

Theological debating on the free space thread. Lets get back to the fun parts of what/where/when time travelling.

Yes I'd pop by Galilee with a digital camera and collect some hard evidence. Then again there are heaps of other cool events worth visiting.

Maybe changing the present and thus the future might be something we could look at. Providing Newtonian England with some technoligical insights.

I think this period (early 1700s) and locale would be acceptable to some simple tech advances such as Steam power and repeater mechanisms for fire arms. Kick the industrial revolution into action a century early.

"keep it simple, stupid!"/safety_wrapper>

i give u factual support and u can only find some diatribe response as...you are deluded you know why...

well that recalcitrance is expected i suppose. but i am digressing from what has apparently been reduced to verbostic slinging.

and it isn't fun. but i assure you as for intelligence precipitating faith or more importantly the reverse...well atleast i am not the one throwing blind accusation and judgements.

and i am certainly not here to fuel such debates. good luck.

Lordy...

I didn't mean to set off a holy war. As a *believer*, I would note that most knowledgeable believers acknowledge that the texts were written -- and then copied, copied, and copied again. And that most of them were written with specific pastoral purposes in mind.

All of which is to say: there be no room for demogogues here. And I still believe that AD 30 in the region of Judea would be a fascinating choice for time travel.

Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

While Dr. Who was a smart ol' cuss, I sure do hope *our* time machine would be more reliable than the Tardis!

To add a few possibilities to the list:

Alexandria before the library burned would be pretty cool.

Vienna before World War II.

Manhattan before the white guys showed up -- while it was still green, before the first building was so much as a twinkle in anybody's eye.

Philadelphia in July 1776.

And last, but most certainly not least: Mission Control on July 20, 1969.

Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

Reading the above posts leaves me to conclude that there would be too much responsibility inherent in the proposition for me to attempt the use of time travel. I would suddenly feel the weight of the future as resting soley on my shoulders and would be heartbroken that I couldn't fix things.

Ah, Marie -- how is that different than what we do every day, just living life?

The weight of the future hangs on our shoulders here in the present, every bit as much as it would if we could scoot around in a time machine. Hardly a day goes by that I don't stumble across something -- or someone -- that breaks my heart, making me wish I could wave a magic wand and just *fix* 'em.

So I say -- Harlem in the 1920s! We could visit some of the jazz clubs, and chat up some of the writers of the Harlem Renaissance.

Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

I'd want to witness Apollo 11, the first mannd mission to mars, the first manned mission to an extra-solar planet.

Then I would vist a certain indvidual in Sarajevo on June 27th 1914 and keep them locked up for a couple of days. Then a quick jaunt to the present to see if things played out right.
Then head backwards to help out Uther Pendragon at Tintagel.

Yeah, imagine if you went back in time and rescued some helpless infant from a burning building...and the infant was destined to become a serial killer had he not died the first time around.

Temptation to go back in time and prevent random drive by murder of a friend of mine would be pretty irresistable.

And returning fire with an assault rifle on the a-hole would be a possibility too.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Vogon, I'm sorry to hear about that. I'd probably want to do the same thing.

Yev, I know it's prying, but who was this person to you? If you don't want to say, I totally understand.

Friend of mine in Wisconsin about 25 years ago. Attended the same church as I did at the time.

Completely random drive by shooting.

A 'thrill' kill.

As far as I know, no one ever caught or prosecuted.

I'll never forget.

Others have.

Had my cousins grandson murdered a few years ago too. Creep was only sentenced to a couple of years as the mother of the kid was his girlfriend and she would not testify.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Somewhere around, oh, April, 15 2004; then I would do something like, oh, kick myself in the nuts hard enough to put myself in the hospital and miss out on the golden opportunity of meeting the first Mrs. Arrgh. That could've saved money on court costs.

I would advise caution in revealing personal details here till you establish a 'niche' and also note how some of the other posters react to such revelations.

And for Gawds sake, don't repeat hics blunder.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

I'm actually fairly savvy--honest. If anyone can identify me using the date I allegedly met my first wife in the year 1994, I'm impressed.

EDIT: I'm admittedly curious, however, as to what this epic blunder was, and what reaction people will have to levity?

Not what I meant.

You can inadvertantly emasculate yourself in regards to certain topics.

Some folks who like to 'talk the talk, but can't walk the walk' do more harm to their favorite causes than any number of critics ever could.

Capiche?

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!
