Lets say the sun disappears...we would not feel the absence of heat/light for another 8 minutes. However, wouldnt the gravitational attraction between both bodies cease to exist immediately?

If a body can ultimately cease to maintain its gravitational attraction, can it also immediately obtain gravitational attraction? What does this do for the possibility of fast travel?

This is also under discussion in another thread in this forum. Basically it's believed that "gravity" propagates at the speed of light. If the Sun were to magically disappear we wouldn't know it via gravity before we know it via light. That said it still remains to be proven. Experimental results to prove this true or false are under debate as to just exactly what they proved.

See the pertinent posts in this thread.

-----------------------------------------------------

Ask not what your Forum Software can do do on you,

Ask it to, please for the love of all that's Holy, STOP !
