At the bottom right of the picture there is something that looks like water. If you look at the edge of this feature you can see that it seems as though the rocky land continues underneath the surface of the water a little bit.

Although water is likely to have been formed on Mars, this is not a picture of water but rather a rock with layers in it (possibly from billions of years of erosion?)<br /><br />How do these pieces break up into the places where they are now? Perhaps they are huge pieces of stone thrown away by volcanoes of the past who knows...

Who knows what this is. What's amazing is that you can be sitting at home at your computer looking at detailed pictures of Mars.
