Headline from Spaceflight Now:<br /><br />John Young is retiring<br />More than 40 years after becoming an astronaut, American hero John Young is retiring from NASA this month. The 74-year-old had an extraordinary career and was the first person to fly in space six times during the Gemini, Apollo and shuttle programs. He walked on the moon in 1972 and commanded the maiden flight of Columbia in 1981.
