It seems to me this book is rather alegorical and as un-scifi as it gets. I read a bunch of reviews trying to comprehend it. I confess my previous PKD experience is limited to "The Man in the High Castle", at least I can't remember anything else I read by him.
But anyways, the science part in Bloodmoney is rather whack and that makes it unique among post apocalyptic novels, in a way similar to "A Canticle for Leibowitz"
Actually, there is at least one motif from ACL that surfaces in Dr. Bloodmoney, but I don't mean to spoil the plots of either book.
Anyways, towards the end Dr. Bloodmoney gets weirder and weirder and it crosses into a Lovecraftian nightmare.
Pretty cool and very eclectic, but I still struggle to make sense of it all.

http://asteroid-invasion.blogspot.com

http://www.solvengineer.com/asteroid-invasion.html

I read Dr. Bloodmoney relatively recently as well and posted my thoughts on it in the 'SciFi Books just read thread.' I quite liked it too, and yes it is really weird in places, but I suppose that is quite typical of Dick's works - burgeoning with odd tangents and interesting ideas.

I am currently reading The Penultimate Truth by Dick.
