Actually, I think Enterprise's action probably straightened things out so that Kirk will be born after all. It's a good thing that he came from Iowa and not Florida.

yeah, because the last time we saw daniels, he said that the timeline was reseting it's self, so the future is still preserved.
Don't let your sig line incite a gay thread ;>)

Daniels was a liar. Everyone knows that timelines don't reset themselves. You know how those Future guys are.

The world is a chaotic place. If a butterfly flaps his wings in Los Angeles, huricanes will occur differently a year later in the Atlantic. Any time travel would certainly create an entirely different future.

Any thoughts on if it would be EASY enough to go back in time and change the future events of things to come?
I liked the orgininal shows where they went back to then present earth, and were concerned with the future ramifications of their actions. Case in point, the jet pilot who came aboard the ship, and found out his son would lead the Jupitor(sp) mission, then later forgot it when that action did not happen at the end of the show.

Could this action with the Klingons then cause a new multiverse to develop from that action, or am I totally off in my concepts of this? Or could this be explained from one of those four lectures on quantum thoughts in another part of this web-site. I followed the flow of thoughts enough, until that third one, and seemed to part reality with the thoughts presented there. It seemed they were seeking (or even attempting to create), an answer to match their thoughts and unproven ideas, and not the other way around.

My apologies if I am attempting to side-track this thread. ST is one of my favorite shows, but I have not been able to follow the current series much, especially when they took off on that zindi thread.

OK. I'm lost here. Someone explain exactly what the official Paramount stance is concerning the difference between TOS Klingons and ST:TMP+ Klingons. Please.

/confused

I put on my robe and wizard hat...

* There doesn't have to be an official explanation. Don't tie the hands of future writers.

* Star Trek TOS was part of a Federation disinformation operation.

* Star Trek TOS, was the only series not part of a Federation disinformation operation.

* TOS had insufficient budget compared to later series. Starting with the 1st movie, they were able to hire real Klingons to play the roles.

* Star Trek Klingons have always looked the same, if you think you recall things differently, it is because you are not native to this time line. If this is the case, do not draw further attention to yourself.

* Tell me what you think you remember about the Klingons....................

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

I think we might agree several of the posters here are most likely 'not of our time line' at the very least.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

wow, I think those are more than coincidences. oh well, guess I should thank you for Relics then, one of my favorite episodes!

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

In reply to:

OK. I'm lost here. Remember the genetic engineering that gave TOS Khan? This freaked out the Klingons because modded humans kicked them at their own game. The Klingons then attempted a little genetic engineering of their own to counter the threat -- by splicing in the modded human DNA. This wasn't so smart and wound up causing a degenerative disease. They're saved by Phlox who creates a cure/vaccine but it has side effects: klingons lose their ridges. They all joke about Klingon doctors now having a new procedure to sell: cosmetic ridge rebuilding... but the idea is that Klingons on the whole are going to be ridge-free for a while.

That might be off on a detail or two, but that was essentially it (according to my own faulty memory of watching the episode).

Mere precedent is a dangerous source of authority.

-Andrew Jackson (1767-1845)

Gotta love retroactive history.

From what I remember from the books from around the first movie and TNG time where they did try to explain the differences in the Klingons, it went something like this.

It is a Kligon Empire with many worlds and several races. The ridge heads were "Imperial" Klingons and the TOS ones were a different race {don't remember if they ever named them}. Now it gets a little foggy - either the TOS Klingons actually took over for a while or the Imperial Klingons always ran the show but never showed themselves to outsiders or the was a natural/artificial disease that affected only the Imperial type. Then, the TOS Klingons were all but killed off because {a} The Imperials retook the Empire, {b} The Imperials were tired of all the TOS failure, or {c} disease.

These were great theories and worked well up until the episode in DS9 where they revived 3 TOS klingons as ridge heads. Oh well, what can you expect from writers - they can be as bad as engineers sometimes.

How about everybody just ignore the difference between the Klingons and accept that it was budgetary constraint?

Maybe the Romulans stole money from DesiLu thus robbing the Klingons of thier ridges.

By the time the first movie came out, the producers said, "hey, if Ruffles can have ridges why not Klingons?"

Dear friends
Go here please:
http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/news/press-release-details.cfm?newsID=117
” The spacecraft's VELOCITY RELATIVE TO THE SUN is at about 26 kilometers per second (about 59,250 miles per hour). Cassini is now more than 9 million kilometers (almost 6 million miles) from Earth”.

Since our probe is launched from the earth, it has already a velocity of 65,000 miles per hour (earth's velocity).

Why have NASA engineers steered Cassini on this trajectory?
http://www.space.com/php/multimedia/imagedisplay/img_display.php?pic=h_cassini_trajectory_02.gif&cap=The

Instead of increasing Cassini's velocity they have slowed down it at 59,250 miles per hour.

NASA engineers think the earth is the center of our solar system and don't consider earth's velocity.

In this wrong way Cassini has travelled for 2 200 000 000 miles to meet Saturn.

Cassini would have been able to fly along a straight line travelling for less than 1 000 000 000 miles.

65,000 miles per hour (earth velocity) + 36,000 miles per hour (spacecraft's velocity) = 101,000 miles per hour

1 000 000 000 miles : 365 days : 24 hours : 101,000 miles per hour = 1.13 years

If NASA engineers considered the earth's velocity, Cassini could meet Saturn in one year!
