That's why I expressed some doubt earlier as to whether or not the immune system even recognizes Prions (there's thought both ways on that, as I have learned). I would guess that, like cancer, prions crop up and are disposed of an a regular basis, all without our knowledge. The ability for the cellular "machinery" to go sideways and produce a mis-coded protein cannot be new. <br /><br />Prions seem to be rather too difficult to track in living creatures for researchers to make sweeping claims about their detection and removal at very low levels. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>
