I know that the sun rises in the east with slight seasonal variation (I live near NYC), but what about the moon ? Does the moon rise, and set, in the same location ?

The moon's orbit is inclined to the ecliptic (apparent path of the sun) by about 5 degrees, so there is a little more variation on rise and set locations than the sun. However, it still always rises in the east and sets in the west.

Yes what heyscottie said.

Sometimes at night i like to figure out which direction is which by using the moon alone. Its fun specially when i have friends with me and they think im crazy and wrong and then i end up being right lol.
