Hello dear folks! I hope not to waste anyone's time, but to just perhaps have a small mystery answered. I have what I believe is a big piece of glass. It was bought at a garage sale and the owner had no idea where it came from. It weighs about 10lbs. and is smokey colored with measurements of about 9" x 6" in the largest areas. I have no idea who would make such a large piece of glass or how it would be feasible to create it for a purpose instead of another material. The edges seem to be pretty sharp. At anyrate, here are the pictures I used to list it on ebay....:

Anyone have any clues as to the value or origin? Thanks a lot! - (sorry, I can not get the picture to link and show u have to copy and paste!)

http://img273.imageshack.us/my.php?image=glasschunknw1.jpg

Glass rocks go for about $3.00 a pound for that size range;if you paid more for your pieces, they were priced too high!

Hey guys thanks a lot for the posts. Thanks Leovinus for posting my pictures for me, that makes it so much easier for everyone. What a nice guy/girl!!

I also recieved a message from a guy saying that it is a glass slag from a glass oven. The pieces of glass drip and fall to the bottom of the oven and eventually have to be broken out. It makes a very hard glass.

Wow, I think I would be rich if it was peridot! Thanks for linking those pictures, Micheal.

So I basically have a $30 dollar piece of glass...thanks a lot. Life is awesome when you learn something you had no idea existed. Best wishes to you all!
