Need help finding the name of this story

I am trying to find a sci-fi short story/poem I do not not which one it is. <br />This piece text involes a being who is stationed at an outpost on a planet (his race is at war with "aliens"). He gets attacked by one of these aliens which he describes as being a fleshy hairy ?beast. The being then kills this beast and the reader finds out that the beast-like alien was really a human. <br />I know this is not much to work with, but if someone finds it i'll sleep better tonight.

Sounds vaguely like the plot of an old Piers Anthony novel "viscious circle" you also find out that the "being" is in fact a spy for the humans who had his consciousness transferred to the body of the alien and went native, forgetting he was human.

There was an episode of the original "Outer Limits" series very similar to this. Robert Culp (for those of you who remember the '60's series I Spy) was genetically transformed into an "alien" with the intention of creating world peace.<br /><br />As he became more "alien", the US military found out that their geopolitical view wasn't quite what aliens had in mind, and their "hero" became their target. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <em>"2012..
