'Potentially catastrophic' solar storm identified in ancient tree rings

The Sun is an incredibly powerful, but almost always, beneficial Monster. I don’t recommend anyone go there. 😜

I’m curious what damages occurred from this event. These blasts seem to be common from Red Dwarfs, likely hindering life chances for any exoplanet in their HZ.

So, if there have been 9 such events in the past 15,000 years, that is a probability of 0.0006 per year, assuming that they are random. And that calculates out to a probability of about 5% that a person who lives to be 85 years old would experience one of these events in that lifetime. But, it would take 1155 years of watching to have a 50-50 probability of an event occuring.
