I'd not seen this discussed previously on the Missions and Launches Forum, so here's a link to the proposal which was made at a recent NASA workshop:

If part of the US owned ISS structure can be re-used at the end of the ISS mission for another manned mission that would seem to be a sensible idea - after all the mass has already been raised to LEO.
