Alright I am getting extremely tired of this. It seems that aside from a few backbone SciFi series, 80% of the programming on the SciFi channel is Horror/Monster flicks {Many of them pretty lame}.

Is it time for them to change their name, or should the fans start a campaign to bring them back in line?

Yes, I agree. About a decade ago, the Sci-fi channel would have a special week every few months where they would air the best Japanese anime ever made (not sailor moon) in prime time. Some of that stuff was pretty awesome. It seems that better management and imagination are needed at Sci-fi.

AAARRRGGGHHHH! I want Cable! (still stuck w/aprox. 5 channels...)

but anyway, SciFi channel needs a new Star Trek searies, or at least one origional high(er) budget show w/special effects that don't look like cartoons... Then I think it will get more of an audience and better shows will follow...

Heck, if they picked up Star Trek TOS at a normal time, they'd double the number of their target audience that was watching.

CC,

the Cartoon Network runs a lot of JapAnime now during its "Adult Swim" schedule. They have at various times during week:

Inuyasha
Paranoia Agent
Full Metal Alchemist
Ghost in The Shell
S-Cry-ed
Fooly Cooly
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop

and G4TV also runs a segment called Anime Unleashed where they show two episodes a night of a series from pilot to end. I think they're still doing Gungrave right now.

They haven't had Ghost in the Shell for a few months now...
on weekdays it goes like this...
12:30 Inuyasha (starting voer from the beginning.)
1:00 Full Metal Alchemist.
1:30 Cowboy Bebop
And on Saturday, they have
11:30 Samurai Champloo
12:00 Inuyasha (new episodes)
12:30 S-cry-ed
1:00 Paranoia Agent
1:30 FLCL
Of course, that's eastern time.
(you can tell what i've been doing this summer...)

And, IMO, one of the best of Japanese Anime SF stories: E.Y.E.S. of Mars.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Its sort of like a lot of bookstores.

They have a sciFi section full of fantasy novala's. Maybe they need to rename it FANTASY.

Yeah, i really hate it when they combine Scifi and fantasy. And then it's predominantly one or the other. Why even bother having scifi books there, if there's only tow or three different ones?

This is why its the "Sci-Fi" network and not the "SF" or "Science Fiction" network. Forest Ackerman coined the term "Sci-Fi" back in the 50's (a term that most science fiction authors loath to this day) and he definitely had monsters in mind!

In a way its kind of fun to see the return of the B-grade monster flick. (I never watch them, but the promos are ussually hilarious!) Maybe Sci-Fi is trying to balance out all of the critical acclaim they are getting from Battlestar Galactica.

The SciFi channel monster flicks are some of the worst movies ever created I think. I really don't understand why they continue to air them on off hours. Surely people can't be interested in "Attack of the giant ant" or "The man turned into a giant shark which impregnates a woman". Granted, there are a few decent quality ones every once in a while, but the vast majority are trash.

If it was up to me, i'd have the SciFi channel stick to airing re-runs of popular hit science fiction shows during the day time - shows that people actually went to the movies to see when they first came out.
