Shuttle Guy,

Good to hear from you. Thank you for stopping by for us.

Glad to hear that a blocked artery was cleared, that's always good. But I'm sorry to hear about your shunt in your heart. I'm sure the doctors with be able to fix it.

It's amazing what they can do. My grandmother had a blocked artery in her neck and several near her heart. If I remember correctly the one in her neck was over 80% blocked and the ones connecting to her heart were not good either. It was grim. The surgery needed was very risky because of the number of clogged arteries and the location of them.

A stroke is what had brought attention to all this, and the doctors said that it was a miracle that her stoke had not been much worse than it had been.

They did the surgery on her and cleared all the major problems and many of the minor problems. She is fine now. Back to normal, in fact better than her previous normal.

Well I wish you the best Shuttle Guy. Take it easy. Rest up.

Whew, I've been absent from M&L (From all SDC actually) for the last few months, this is the first topic I saw once I entered. My heart dropped.
But it's great to know you're ok now Dave

And get well soon, we need our favorite agent at NASA to give us all the inside info when Discovery launches!

""Hospital bed is a very boring place for every man""

Well, that can depend entirely on the attractiveness of the nurses ....... Though, that said, still probably not the best of predicaments for a man with a heart condition!

Seriously though, great to see you're out of the human 'OPF' after this unscheduled 'maintenence period'. I'm sure I speak for all our SDC buddies when I say I am hopeful that the 'turbopump' performance will be 'green across the board' and completely 'nominal' from here on out.

Okay, enough cheesy attempts at analogies, Henry nailed it much better on page 1! Best wishes, take care, and don't overdo it SG.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Dave-
I'm glad to see that you are home and maybe you don't want to go flying with me for a while, at least let me fix the brakes first. Actually, I've got to do more than just fix the brakes, so it's just as well, because it will give that turbo pump time to get back into flight readiness.

Why are airplanes like women? I wish they were more like guys. I was on the road for 5 weeks, and I hadn't taken her flying in probably 6, or 7 weeks. If it were a guy, when I got back it would have said, "Rocket! Hey buddy! Were are we going? This is going to be great!"

Instead, she was pissed that I was gone for so long. If she had arms they would have been folded, if she had feet, one would have been tapping on the ground. There is nothing really wrong with her, she just needs a me to spend a little "quality time" with her and give her a little TLC, and maybe a new pair of shoes(brake shims, which cost nothing, hardly, except time) What happened was the newly replaced brakes got a little rusty, and when they were taxiing they heated up, and expanded and caused more friction....which heated up and expanded, and cause more friction. I've read about it, and it's usually not this sever, but it's worse in airplanes with wheel pants, and she's got wheel pants.

Do you remember when I was saying that I wish somebody could take her flying while I was on the road? This is the kind of stuff that I was talking about. Airplanes don't like to sit on the ground for weeks at a time.

Hopefully the two of ya'll will both be airworthy before too long. We still have to fly over that beach, and I told you about that seafood place out on Marathon Key, we still have to go there some time.

Take care.

A King Air is probably the easiest airplane to fly. If you can fly a glider or a 152 you can fly a King Air, any King Air.

I'm glad your back sir.

Please take care of yourself. "You're not planning on going skydiving are you!? "

Not for a few weeks.

You're a nut!

The only time it's OK to jump out of an airplane is if its on fire, or something really important fell off of it. You can kind of stretch it if you are going to blow something up or build an airstrip, like the SEALs or SEABEEs do sometimes.
