Hey guys, this is my first post and I actually know nothing about this subject at all,but I would just like to let you know that whilst mucking around with my scanner last night (I am in Victoria Australia) just doing a random scan,i think i may have found something?
I happened to come across "Houston" talking to dave williams ,they where doing a repair on Endevour,I have nearly 3 hours of this on tape,i got all my cords together and plugged up to the stereo and pressed rec, pretty cool and im not even into it! Now all I want to know, is this stuff worth uploading for people to listen to or is it widely available and common? there is a lot of "bzzzzzzz" "bzzzzzzz" and talk of gyroscopes etc and crook modules, wiring etc and bolts that are "stuck", uploaded a few minutes worth for you guys to give an opinion of.

http://www.freewebs.com/dickscrap/space1.wav

thanks Rick

Which frequency did you find it on? Is there a list somewhere publicly available?

3hrs? Can't have been coming directly from the spacecraft then as it would only be overhead and receivable for a frw minutes max.
So where would this signal have come from? Spoonty, did you take note of the frequency?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Wanna see this site looking like the old SDC uplink?

Go here to see how: SDC Eye saver

Might have picked up NASA TV on the surface RF feed to/from a cable provider or local TV station.

"to/from a cable provider or local TV station"

Well it must be only to, as we, unfortutately, don't get a "from" feed from any loacal or cable TV station (ifaik)

Just listening to the received audio by Spoonty now, it's definitely NASA TV.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Wanna see this site looking like the old SDC uplink?

Go here to see how: SDC Eye saver

I use my scanner for all sort of listening but in the USA. Never tried to listen to the shuttle direct. Because it would only be overhead for a few minutes. I listen to NASA TV via online and DIRECT tv (satellite tv service)

I did a bit of a goggle searching and found that frequency used by a few repeaters. I have no idea where you are at, but here is a link.
<www.wia.org.au/repeaters/Repeater%20Directory%20070723.pdf />

Just open the pdf document and search for 439.375.
If you find the output frequency is in your area, then you were listening to a repeater that someone used to re-transmit NASA TV off of a satellite dish.
Well im near Frankston in Victoria Australia and it comes up as Berwick in the pdf search, now that would explain it as Berwick is only a 35 minute drive from here.
Thanks Dougbaker I think you may have cleared things up for me, I thought I had found something pretty special?, maybe not!

Did you hear the PAO commentator ("this is mission control Houston...") on your scanner?

If so, it was definitely the NASA TV broadcast you picked up.

Check out www.nasa.gov/ntv where you can listen to the same thing AND get a picture at the same time.

----------------------------------

My minds have many opinions

I have been able to pick up ISS communications from time to time on 145.800.Back when Sunni Williams was onboard I heard her doing a Q&A session.Obviously I couldn't hear the questions but could hear her response.I was able to hear her for maybe 5 minutes at the most.It was pretty cool though.I turned on Nasa Tv at the time but they weren't carrying it live.

Michael
