Yeah, probably wouldn't be for a cargo launch.
thanx much for the link....just in time, as I just got back to the pooter.

Challenge for the day: Understanding it without speaking Russian.

What the heck, if Spock could do it on the asteroid deflection planet, I should be able to

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Launch went off on time and safely.
Food and "supplies" on the way.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Spock says check for translation flags first

I was glued to NASA TV but then found out that Roskosmos don't feed coverage of the launch for some reason. See this thread, which also has a link to a orbital tracking applet for the Soyuz-U Progress M-61 Launch.

MouseOnMars
"I am your God. I think the reason is it was a cargo launch.

Even the manned Soyuz flights aren't covered on NASA TV, although there
live feed (very entertaining) online.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I always seem to miss the launches so am determined to see the next one I can. Maybe I'll see Phoenix.

BTW Google can be used to translate Russian. I'm just looking at the Roskosmos forum to see if someone might have posted a launch video.

MouseOnMars
"I am your God. I am all knowing." "Even the manned Soyuz flights aren't covered on NASA TV"

Yes they are if an american on board. If not, the Russians don't provide anything and we don't pay. However, in the future, they should have the equipment and support out there to provide coverage and NASA will show it.

All Soyuz launches since spring 2003 have been on NASA TV live, as they are ferrying the Expeditions up.

Progress is never covered; only docking.

-Ben

Interesting, I'm looking forward to experiencing that.

I'm only just learning about some of the early Russian pioneers from Russian Space Web. I've only just found some unique Mars images from the Phobos probes. Maybe it's just me, but maybe the whole other half of the space race story is coming to light now we're moving out of the post Cold War malaise ... at least for non space history specialists

MouseOnMars
"I am your God.
