http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/editorial/3238878

Says they interviewed Mike Griffin, but don't quote him anywhere, and then go on to say the Shuttle will keep flying till "'2014 at the earliest"

Strange article, given if the reporter gained an interview with Griffin that he didn't quote him anywhere...and then throws in a loose 2014 date.

ShuttleRTF, I think it is an editorial, which makes reference to a prior interview done by one of the paper's reporters. I don't think the interview was done for the piece.

That end requires a robust space program to spur research and inspire the next generation of U.S. scientists and engineers. Until 2014, at the earliest, the shuttle will remain the only U.S. vehicle capable of delivering humans to and from orbit. It also has cargo capabilities that its replacement will not duplicate…

…Whether the shuttle is retired by 2010 or later, its operation will require sustained, costly engineering that will constantly upgrade its capability and reduce risk.

To me that says that under current plans the shuttle won’t be replaced until 2014, not that it will keep flying until 2014.

That would make sense....

And as Nacnud's pointed out, I've read the 2014 out of context.

You can all wear "I'm with Stupid" T-shirts now

I suggest strapping an SRB down to the end of the garden, fire that up, then drive an MLP over it.....you'll never have long grass again

The crew goes on an EVA and leaves Clarissa in charge:

"Open the docking compartment door, Clarissa."
"I'm sorry, Sergei, I'm afraid I can't do that."
