Sadly, most "franchised" MMORPGs have not done historically well. Either they have been beset with design flaws or have ended up as overly commercialized non-fun packages.

I'm a huge fan of Eve Online and have never played the game. But, the developers have produced a game the way a game should be produced. There is a reason why most of its fanbase is fanatically loyal - They deserve that loyalty. They've done an outstanding job and their longevity in this highly competitive business is a testament to their skill and dedication at producing a superior product.

I would suggest not to leave EO for STO and, most certainly, would recommend that if you are still interested in STO, you wait until all can be sure STO will be successful. MMORPGs are a dime-a-dozen these days and Eve Online has survived the onslaught of two-bit commercialized productions by others that have yet to unseat it as one of the best and most revered Sci-Fi MMORPGs out there.

I put on my robe and wizard hat...
