There are alot of people conplaining about the end to SGA and SG1 TV shows and a move to movies do to more profit.That look at TV it is garbage cheap shows like LOST,CSI Miami ,House ,American Idol ,Desperate Housewives ,Sopranos ,Dog Bounty Hunter ,intervention ,First 48, Mybusters ,Manhunters.,NYPD blue ,forensic ,FAMILY BUSINESS ,Rescue Me ,Cold Squad ,CSI ,dating gone bad ,want not to wear , cash cab ,Destroyed In Seconds , Monster Moves ,Man Vs. Wild ,American Chopper ,Mean Green Machines ,Mean Machines ,Star Racer ,hot rod so on!!! Will make it to the 15 or 20 seasons .And space shows it is lucky to make to 5 seasons .There is lack of intrest of creative writing and all the scrip writters is base on comedy , romace and crime and reality TV. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

"House" and "Sopranos" are NOT 'cheap garbage'?!! They have the highest standards of writing and acting. For you to say such things implies one of two things -- you've either never actually watched those shows, 1 episode each at best, or you're just having a 'mini-tantrum' over the ending of Atlantis, which I really liked, too. But it was no "Firefly" -- when that show was cancelled, lots of people actually went into depression. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! What I mean by cheap shows is low production shows.Space shows and fantasy shows , in the future , star wars and battlestar galactica are expensive to make .There is alot of crime in world and so it easier for script writers than scfi- that you have to make up.And there is not alot of special effects in shows I quoted above but star wars and battlestar galactica need alot of special effects and so it cost alot to make.We are bombard with crime shows.  <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

We are certainly bombarded with too many police procedural shows, that's for sure!! But high production values doesn't have to mean visual effects -- many of the shows you listed don't use lots of CGI because they aren't 'space opera'. The CSI shows cost somewhere between 1 and 2 million bucks per episode to make. And Babylon 5 taught the TV industry that good FX didn't need to cost the Earth. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! Replying to: <DIV CLASS='Discussion_PostQuote'>Loved the series, but the ending was something to be desired.  They blew the series finally with SG1 as well.I suspect to see the first SGA DVD movie in stores by early summer.  I think SciFi found a nitch in discontinuing a series and selling hour and a half movies on DVD, which is unfortunate!  Posted by bearack</DIV>I rather liked the series finales for both shows.  But they did leave loose ends, which is both frustrating and annoying.  I suppose I'll someday get around to renting the DVD movies, but I suspect that if we wait long enough, the Sci-Fi Channel will eventually broadcast them.I will miss the casts of SG1 and SGA.  After watching both shows these past 11 years, they seem like family.  Amanda Tapping, in her final appearance in the Stargate universe, still seemed as lovely as ever.  I had my doubts about the Atlantis team at first, but they developed in character and complexity as the seasons rolled by.....I even came to like the annoying Mr. Woolsey!  And I'm glad that Rodney finally found a woman who could love him.....that final scene of his arm around Dr. Keller, gazing at the Golden Gate bridge, was heartwarming. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

csi really costs 1-2 mil each?  On what?!  That's what farscape cost for each episode...and look at all they had to do for a routine episode.I miss farscape
