Otherwise, getting new stargates to new locations would still take a long time. <br /><br />You set up gate A on your home planet, fly to an alien planet to set up gate B, jump through gate B to get back to gate A on your home planet, build gate C, then fly to another alien world to set up gate C, eventually jumping through gate C to get back to gate A on your home planet. <br /><br />You could then go from A to C, or C to B, or B to C.
