Shuttle_RTF, that is a killer scoop. I wish you were in Houston to ask Wayne about it in 20 minutes.

I've been looking through the FRR slides. Nothing on this repair. There is only discussion of the stretch further up the tank that was replaced using improved respray techniques.

You are genius! YES!

Phone sky NOW. Get the $$$ for a scoop, buy a ticket for the STS-121 lanuch now resheduled for sep, and lets have some decent first hand reporting of the now back on launch!

Well Done.

PS the joins in the repress lines might make better referance points, maybe.

It was SG's tip off, wouldn't of gone after this otherwise. Might of come out eventually, but you have to ask these guys...they don't just tell you (as it should be). I do have a feeling (it was hinted to me) that Wayne Hale is going to say something on this - we'll see.

Nacnud - been beating Sky over the head with "how debris works - becomes a concern" all bloody day Ended up going to Channel 4 with some scripting, and they did a good section on the 7pm News.

Thanks, me too! I want to go out on a major drinking session with Paul "Bruiser" Hill and see just how much trouble we can get ourselves in! Maybe I should invite him over to the BBC Christmas Party. I'll bring the booze, he can bring the slapdowns

I'm holding the actual news article on this until I've got a few more people to give a comment on it. There's one guy who's an absolute ET guru who I really want to speak to before I'm confident this is a full news article. This is why I like the message boards, as one is able to get a WIP story out there by way of making the info accessable (when it's not compromising).

>Why was that repair done? Was it the accident with the crane?<

Ah, see SG's reply below.

Crane driver? Would this be in the VAB or during ET construction or some other time?

The DVD sized foam came from the ice frost ramp, three peices in total came off one may have hit the wing. This is above the large peice that RTF identified.

This is facinating. Very clever demonstration of the new tracking data capabilities and the way they can allay any fear of effect on the RCC/TPS.

He is not going to mention the large peice identified by RTF! Drat, RTF get over there and ask some questions.

If I could get a train to Manchester Airport, a flight to Houston and a taxi to JSC....
Were these three pieces within the allowed size, or were they 'out of spec?'

RPM manoeuvre (Rendezvous Pitch Manoeuvre), and who said NASA didn’t have a sense of humour.

If foam is applied to the entire inside surface of this external skin/ shell, how could any said foam escape anywhere,

Good point! Sorry I didn't quite understand the first time. Very much worth considering, just think of the time saved in TPS dings if this would work.

Edit to add quote

Indeed. Dunn reports NASA with all the authority of someone who majored in Quiltwork in college.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!
