Sunspot AR 13029

[Terra Australis]

Hello: This Active Region 3029 was determined to be a spotless plage area yesterday. A new ring of sunspots grew very quickly close to the old active region. NOAA has numbered this new region as 3029 which surprised me. Any ideas why they, NOAA, would do this?

Thanks for your reply.
Spot 3029 is listed as S18 W06 today. The plage area that was 3029 was at S17 W00 yesterday I believe.
Unfortunately I am unable to post a pic but if you look at Solarham.com magnetogram you will see what I mean.
All the sites that report this information were very slow at updating yesterday.
Edit: They have now updated their chart I guess we'll never know the reasons.!
