But I would just like to say thanks to 3488 (Andrew) for all of the great information and pictures he constantly updates on these forums. They are quite fascinating, and a pleasure to read. I wouldn't know where to find half the stuff he does

A whole thread dedicated to me & the work I do here!!!!!!

You are more than welcome freind.

I absolutely LIVE for this sort of thing.

a_lost_packet, Wayne, silylene, doublehelix, etc jumped on my case when I felt like quitting due to some racist new comer idiot on these boards (I have a Chinese Wife, & this idiot poked fun at the Chinese when Shenzhou 7 was in orbit) & I had a rather bad episode with my health condition which made me evaluate my own importance here or anywhere else for that matter.

a_lost_packet, Wayne, silylene & doublehelix thought I was just being stupid thinking like that & despite my difficulties I contribute in a big way to humanity's struggle to understand space & Earth's place within space & that I know all too well, how important is is for people like us here, to not allow humanity to lose sight of that or we will go the way of the Dinosaurs. How very true that is.

I am here for the duration & at the moment my concentration is on the Mars Phoenix Lander (which I personally helped save from cancellation) & the upcoming MESSENGER Mercury encounter, now less than a day & a half away. We will see for the first time EVER huge swathe (well two huge swathes) on Mercury, never ever seen before by humans & this is so thrilling, even if it is craters & lava plains, these are still new features that will enable us to help understand why Mercury is as it is & also will help in understanding the Earth in many respects (the two planets are not as different as they may seem, there are huge & fundemental similarities) & that I feel that I can contribute in some small way to get that information out & to get others interested.

Planetary Exploration for me is a real passion, whilst not participating in a proffessional capacity, I do participate by sharing ideas, images & I do have contacts in NASA & am known to two of the former mission managers of the Jupiter Galileo Orbiter, with whom I had exchanged a great many ideas. I have had conversations with Dr Ralph McNutt @ the APL / JHU concerning MESSENGER back in January & since, will be again after the upcoming encounter.

Also I have had other success since then & still some outstanding, such as MRO HiRISE obs of the glacial type features in the Tharsis area on Mars, Phoenix Landing site during the Winter & Spring (a recent success as been announced that's going to be done) & observations of the outer & smaller Mars moon Deimos with same.

Anyway anough about me, welcome to SDC.

I'm not sure that a thread about me should be on SS&A so I'll ask dh to move it, but I.m blown away, I really am. You have made my day.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world.
