gotta remember this is a 'geocentric' web site- as the comment about the 'northern lights' show's it was probably posted by a writer in the northern hemisphere.

if it turns out that X-class flares are observed once the sun rotates further into view, and if we are in the direct path of one of them, both the northern and southern hemispheres will see strong aurorae as we saw earlier this month as long as it isn't overcast the way it was in Sydney during the spectacle earlier this month.
