I'm writing a blurb for a local robotics competition, and I'd like to reference Mars being X miles away during the staging of the competition, which is in November. I can't seem to find such specific information online. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

If you give me the day of the competition (and the time) I can give you a precise answer right away.

Edit
Just to give you an idea, during November the distance decreases from 115 million km ( 71 million miles) to 93 million km ( 58 million miles)

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Hello, and thanks for the quick response. The competition will be held on 30 November and 1 December 2007.

If you're interested, here is the website for this year's BEST Robotics theme:

http://www.bestinc.org/MVC/2007_Story_Line

Thanks again.

Good, well that minimum distance is for 11:59:59 PM on November 30th, so is right in the middle of the two days.

After the competition, why not write a blurb for us here at Space.com. We'd love to hear about it!!

Wayne

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Monsters. Wow, that was fast. So at midnight on 30 November, Mars will be 58 million miles away. I'll round that up and write, "Nearly 60 million."

This weekend is the practice day for the various schools. Next week is the prelim. Area schools will bring their robots and navigate a simulated Martian surface, endeavoring to move resources from one area to another across an obstacle-laden field. I work for the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. We're also hosting the much larger regional competition in November/December. Right now I'm working on the program for that event, so I wanted to include some juicy Mars facts.

Thanks for your help!
