Thor spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

When: 2011

Filming: January 2010

Director: Kenneth Branagh (Henry V; Dead Again; Frankenstein; Hamlet and other Shakespearian films)

Producer: Louis D'Esposito (Iron Man 1/2; Basic Instinct; Captain America (2011); The Avengers (2012))

Dr. Donald Blake/Thor: Chris Hemsworth
Jane Foster: Natalie Portman
Sif: Jaimie Alexander
Nick Fury: Samuel L. Jackson
Loki: Tom Hiddleston
Odin: Brian Blessed (inspired casting if ever...)
Unnamed villain: Colm Feore

OH....one more thing.....

They're getting serious about a New Mutants movie centering on Cable

Its going to be hard to both do this story well and have it be popular.
I hope I am wrong. While Thor was never a big favorite of mine, I did
like him.

Wayne

p.s. I read a "What if" sotry many years ago in which Rogue absorbs
Thor's powers totally, killing him and basically became a female version of Thor

I always liked Thor, but for the movie I'm surprised they didn't go with 2 diff actors, one for Blake and one for Thor. I guess with todays effects they think they don't need to.

Wayne, I never read that one. My favorite Thor mag was Thor VS Silver Surfer. Loki tricked SS into battling Thor by telling him Thor was the evil dictator of Asgard and promising him his freedom. In those days the Surfer couldn't leave Earth, punishment for betraying Galactus. WHAT A BATTLE!!!

Read that one two. A good story. It was interesting when the surfer wakes up to the fact that he was doing
things he shouldn't have the power to do, that someone must be helping him.

Isn't it funny, I must have read that one almost 30 yearsago....

Yep. Mid to late '70s it was. Surfer also realized that Thor was not the evil oppressor Loki said he was and stopped fighting to talk to Thor. Really pissed Loki off! He quickly banished Surfer back to Earth, end of story.
Will have to check out this new movie, it sounds like it might be good.
